An Important Message from our Fearless Leader
What we propose is that we get you poor schlubs to actually pay for our fine publication. This is not merely a business decision. It is decision to put our faith in you, our loyal reader who actually gets it. That means the people that are actually reading these words right now. You see, a lot of people don’t read. It’s a chore. Sure, they pick the paper up, but they have no patience for the actual reading part. Since the paper’s free they pick it up, and it’s got some great graphics and comics. The Beast, however, is more than that. It’s a way of life. And I know you know exactly what I mean by that. Charging a modest sum for the paper will mean that the people who really want it will get it, and casual scan-and-toss philistines will have to make do with Artvoice and Buffalo Rising. What we are going to do is this. Starting in January we will distribute the paper through three separate avenues. There will still be plenty of free papers around for the cheapskates. We’ll put them at high traffic locations like Spot Coffee, the Broadway Market, Pano’s and in the public libraries and colleges. We’ll also provide a number of locations were the paper can be purchased for $1.00 (all of the papers will indicate $1, even the free ones). We hope to have that list in our next issue. Lastly, we encourage people to buy subscriptions. So buck up motherfuckers! Pay your money and stick with us. We think you’ll be glad you did—because if you don’t, we’re moving to New York City. -PF
