Video report from the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra, NY
So. Yeah. A couple of weekends ago, I went to the Hill Cumorah Pageant. It’s a big ol’ gay lavish theater production of the Book of Mormon. And, no, this one wasn’t written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. But it’s just as funny.
There were evangelical protesters (because a dead dude can come back to life and fly up to heaven, but it’s just nuts that he would fly to America). And there were sausages and salt potatoes.
Cumorah Hill is purportedly where Joseph Smith dug up those nonexistent Golden Plates. Anyway, I made this video:
Of course, I left out the nuttiest bit about Mormonism: that good Mormons become gods in the afterlife and get to create their own universes. I think that’s why the evangelicals don’t like them. Jealous?
